broader Independent catholic movement that includes nearly 225 jurisdictions and over 275,000 members in the United States, alongside more than 18 million members worldwide. Our roots trace back to the Old catholic Church of the Netherlands, which arrived in the United States at the
close of the 19th century. As an open and inclusive community, we
Have a proud history of welcoming everyone. We deny sacraments to no one, regardless of faith background, gender, or sexual orientation. While we do not swear allegiance to the Pope or the Vatican, we remain authentically "catholic" in our sacraments, liturgy, creeds, and holy orders. This
includes Apostolic succession and ordination of women as deacons, priests and Bishops. We hold a deep respect for the faith and practices of the Roman Catholic Church, as well as all other Christian traditions and world religions.
Our Presiding Bishop for the New England Diocese is located in Massachusetts.
